Technology education is vital in today’s society. For many students, they live in a world full of computers, phones, and other technology. So, it is important for them to understand the mechanics behind these technologies and expand their knowledge and interactions with any gadget they can get their hands on. But it is through this education experience, that students earn the important skills for the 21st century work environment. By being enrolled in a technology class, students gain the skills of effective communication, coding and software skills, and
Many employers desire for employees, who have knowledge of coding and other computer skills. Most things today can be designed and created on the computing devices. But in order to design an app or use CAD software to make a chair, a person needs background information on computer skills. Technology education provides engineering and computer science classes, so students can learn how to design a website, code an application, use engineering design software to build 3D models, and much more. Through scheduled classes and helpful teachers, students develop computer skills that are hard to obtain by themselves. They also earn course credits and even certifications that prove their developed computer skills. Plus, extracurricular activities and clubs provided by schools, like coding club or Technology Student Association, allow for students to build on their computer skills afterschool. By then end of their learning period, students should have complex computer skills and be able to find success in the workplace, as they are more likely to be hired than any other job candidates. Plus, they tend to get higher-paying jobs and pay raises as they have a much-needed skill in the workplace. An underrated aspect of technology education is teamwork. It is not easy when having to solve a problem. So, it is important for students to work in partners or teams when handling difficult scenarios. For example, the problem involves coding program, it is always encouraged to have students take turns as they being new ideas to make the code efficient and error-free. Another example is when engineering students brainstorm and design a new device as a group. Through this teamwork, technology students learn how to trust one another, communicate effectively, and be responsible when fulfilling their assigned parts. In the real work environment, especially for the technology sects, teamwork is needed and encouraged to get large assignments done.
